We are excited to share a first look of the future Support Centre for the Pathogens Portal, a key resource within the Pathogen Data Network project. PDN aims to improve access to pathogen data and support the global research community in tackling infectious diseases. The Support Centre development process is a great example of different PDN project members and work streams working together!

More about the project’s workstreams: https://pathogendatanetwork.org/work-streams/

The Support Centre will be released in spring 2025 and will provide researchers, health professionals, and data providers with:

  • Guidance on using the Pathogens Portal: connecting the user with relevant documentation of the Portal and related resources such as the European Nucleotide Archive and the BioSamples Database
  • Training materials and best practices for data submission and analysis: the Support Centre will collect and display relevant training resources from the EMBL-EBI Training website and from other relevant sources
  • A helpdesk for scientific and technical support
  • Community engagement opportunities to shape the platform’s development

By building a dedicated Support Centre we are ensuring that users can navigate and leverage the platform effectively, enabling better data sharing, faster outbreak response, and stronger global collaboration.

This achievement specifically contributes to PDN’s mission to foster data discovery to enable a worldwide perspective (see all of the project’s objectives). We look forward to working with the community to make this a valuable resource.
