Join us for an exchange on how pathogen data sharing works across institutions and to provide input into the creation of PDN’s Data Sharing Policy (DSP). We’ve all seen well-intentioned policies live in perpetuity in the dusty attics of project websites; we are trying to make the PDN DSP different, and this requires co-creation with those who work with pathogen data and (we hope) will interact with PDN’s services (you)! 

We aim to co-create, with participants of this event, a policy that promotes FAIR data, encourages open and rapid sharing, and– most importantly– reflects the day to day realities, needs and challenges of those generating and working with pathogen data. With this policy we want to both inform how PDN consortium members access and share data, and serve as a guide for all those generating and working with pathogen data around the world.

During this event, participants will be asked to reflect on a draft version of the DSP in plenary and in small groups facilitated by members of the PDN consortium. Active participation is expected and encouraged and to facilitate this the event WILL NOT be recorded. By the end of the event, we expect to have clear feedback on the DSP to inform the next draft.

Join our interactive, open consultation webinar to help co-develop the pathogen data hub Capacity Framework (CF) — a foundational tool designed to guide the creation, development, and sustainability of local, regional, or community-led pathogen data hubs.

This framework aims to support capacity building and resource planning, offering a shared reference point for identifying and addressing technical requirements. It will also serve as a self-assessment tool, helping data hubs evaluate their readiness and align with funding or partnership criteria. Your input will help shape a practical, community-informed framework to strengthen global pathogen data infrastructure.

About this course 
Arboviruses are viruses transmitted to humans primarily through the bite of infected arthropods like mosquitoes, ticks, and sandflies. They are a diverse group of viruses that can cause various diseases, such as dengue, Zika, chikungunya, and West Nile fever. While most arboviruses are not transmitted person-to-person, some, like dengue and yellow fever, can spread through blood transfusions, organ transplants, and mother-to-child transmission.  
This 0.5-day course is taught by the developer of ViralZone. In this course, an introduction to the genomics, evolution and surveillance of arboviruses based on the information found in ViralZone will be provided.
